Our instructors are professionals actively working in the music industry, recording, releasing, and performing their own music. This ensures they bring real-world insights and creativity to every lesson.

Each instructor also holds up-to-date Working with Children checks, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment for students.

  • Donovan Lee

    Owner & Drums

    Donovan Lee is a professional drummer with an extensive career in the music industry. He is the current Drum Lecturer at Southern Cross University and has 12 years of teaching experience at TAFE QLD. Donovan is also an active performer, collaborating with various bands and sharing his passion for rhythm with audiences across the region. His real-world experience and dedication to education make him an inspiring mentor for students of all skill levels.

  • Kelly Lee

    Owner & Admin

    Kelly Lee brings a rich background in business and creativity. With experience running her own business and managing operations for another company, she understands the importance of collaboration and personal growth. Her time as a dancer performing across Europe, infuses Currumbin Rhythm with a unique artistic perspective. Passionate about nurturing both musical talent and personal development, Kelly creates a supportive and inspiring environment for students to thrive.

  • Tegan

    Vocals, Piano & Beginner Guitar

    Tegan Clark is a passionate vocalist and musician with years of performance experience across the Gold Coast and Brisbane. With over seven years behind the mic and at the keys, she has recently completed her Bachelor of Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University, refining her skills as both a performer and educator.

    Tegan loves helping students build confidence, develop their unique sound, and explore their passion for music in a supportive and inspiring environment. Whether it’s finding your voice, mastering technique, or stepping onto the stage, she’s here to guide the way!

  • Alisha

    Vocals & Beginner Guitar

    Alisha Todd is a seasoned musician with over 15 years of experience in performing, recording, and songwriting. A graduate of Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, she has built a dynamic career that spans original projects (Alisha Todd, GENIIE BOY, Volcanic Lovers), theatre productions with The Little Red Company, and live performances as both a musician and DJ. Alisha’s passion for music is matched by her commitment to education—she’s currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Autism Studies, with plans to complete a Master of Music Therapy. With a deep understanding of both the creative and professional sides of the music industry, she brings a wealth of experience to her students and loves helping them discover their own unique musical voice.

    Drums

    Noah has been dedicated to the drums for nearly a decade, bringing a deep passion for rhythm, feel, and creativity to every performance. With a Diploma of Music Performance already under his belt, he is currently furthering his studies with a Bachelor of Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University.

    A seasoned performer, Noah has honed his craft through musicals, weddings, and live events, gaining invaluable experience across a range of musical settings. Now, he’s excited to share his knowledge and inspire the next generation of drummers—helping them develop their skills, confidence, and musicality behind the kit.

  • Mat

    Guitar & Bass

    Mathew Bell is a dedicated guitarist, bassist, and songwriter whose love for music began at age 10. Originally drawn to drums, his journey truly took off when his dad swapped Guitar Hero for the real thing—a guitar that sparked a lifelong passion. Since completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Music (Songwriting/Production) in 2022, Mathew has toured nationally and performed at major festivals like Spilt Milk, Heaps Good, Bigsound, and SXSW Sydney. At Currumbin Rhythm, he shares his extensive experience with students, teaching guitar and bass alongside valuable skills in songwriting, stage presence, and musical confidence.

    Piano, Beginner Guitar & Lever Harp

    Jackie is a versatile musician and passionate educator, teaching piano, guitar, and lever harp to students of all ages. With a love for all styles of music, she creates a welcoming space where students can explore their musical interests and develop their skills.

    Beyond technique, Jackie encourages creativity—guiding students in composing their own original music and finding their unique voice. Whether it’s mastering a favourite song or crafting something entirely new, she’s here to inspire and support every step of the way.

    Drums

    Jay is a professional drummer and passionate educator with over a decade of experience behind the kit. He began drumming at the age of 12 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University, where he sharpened both his technical skills and theoretical understanding.

    Over the years, Jay has performed with numerous bands across a wide range of genres, bringing energy and versatility to every stage. His dynamic live performances reflect the depth of his experience and his love for the craft.

    As a tutor, Jay is kind-hearted, energetic, and engaging. He has a natural ability to make learning fun and accessible, earning him a reputation as an outstanding teacher. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to fine-tune your technique, Jay offers a supportive and inspiring environment where students can grow confidently and creatively as musicians.

  • Amy

    In-School Program

    Amy John Roberts has been playing guitar and piano for 19 years, as well as singing since early childhood. Growing up in a musical family, Amy has seen first hand the ways in which music can provide joy, purpose, and bring people together.

    She is passionate about self expression through music and songwriting, with an emphasis on encouraging students to nurture their authentic taste and style. Above all she is passionate about people enjoying the process of playing and creating music.

    Amy has completed a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Music and has experience teaching guitar, piano and singing to a wide range of age groups. She currently performs live all across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Northern NSW.
